What should I read when I want to recover from abuse? Resources.

Here is a decluttered list of the best books and resources you can start using for PTSD and trauma education and recovery.

Many of my clients ask what to read and many of them tend to over-read, overdo, and usually, get overwhelmed with all the “noise” on the market. For trauma, less is more, but for busy minds here is a short best list to start to read and have for body safety, support and self-regulation:

Verbally Abusive Relationship by Patricia Evans

Healing from Hidden Abuse by Shannon Thomas

Not Nice: Stop People Pleasing, Staying Silent

Complex PTSD: From Surviving to Thriving

Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents ( Narcissistic Parents)

In an Unspoken Voice: How the Body Releases Trauma and Restores Goodness

The Body Keeps the Score

For body regulation, items I am using in my office:

Pro wave mats for adrenal gland, muscles and facia support and overall body safety, any size

Any weighted blanked for support along the back of the spine

Long pillows for support and protection of heart space and belly

Self soothing, anxiety regulation, rocking chairs are on the top of the list with wave mats
